Adults with Care and Support Needs

The Council may support adults with care and support needs to travel to social care venues.

The Council expects adults with support and care needs to manage their own travel requirements. Individuals who can travel to a community activity, either independently or with assistance from family, friends or support providers are encouraged to do so.

Travel assistance is only available for people who have been assessed as having eligible social care needs as set out in the Care Act 2014. Any need for travel assistance will be determined during an assessment of the individual’s care and support needs carried out by a social care practitioner.

For further information please refer to the All Age Travel Assistance Policy.

Update on Independent Travel Training

Please note that at this time the Council will not be assessing individuals for independent travel training due to current social distancing restrictions in place due to Covid-19.
