Switch Inclusion Service

Switch provides early intervention support for children and young people whose social and emotional needs are causing concern and preventing them from achieving their full potential.

At it’s heart, our service works towards preventing the exclusion and isolation of children and young people from schools, communities and families. We achieve this by offering in-school outreach support via our specialist practitioner service, either 1-to-1 or in small groups. We provide priamry and secondary schools with staff who are skilled in :

  • Behaviour management
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Nuture groups
  • Restorative practice
  • Trauma and autism informed
  • Emotion coaching
  • Play therapy

Our programmes help children young people understand how situations and issues arise and then develop the skills to approach concerns in a more reflective way, allowing them to be more effective in solving their own problems and feel more in control. We provide pupils with opportunities to enjoy learning about and making informed decisions around their own personal development, behaviour, welfare and mental health.

Our emphasis is placed on supporting children and young people to make good choices in both their educational and personal lives, giving them the ability to recognise and respond to their own emotions, form effective peer and adult relationships and to persevere through challenges.

During our support children and young people complete a tailored social and emotional learning programme (SEL), including:

  • Communication
  • Problem-solving
  • Emotional regulation and resilience
  • Self awareness
  • Social Awareness
  • Responsible Decision Making
  • Understanding others
