Quality and Access Officers

Our Quality and Access Officers advise, guide and support Early Years Practitioners with their provisions ensuring good quality and accessible childcare that is sustainable for children and young people. Quality and Access Officers offer support to new provisions, professional development training, OFSTED inspection support, and sufficiency/sustainability assessments.

Claire Whittaker has worked as a Quality and Access Officer for Wolverhampton City Council for two and a half years. Her role within Wolverhampton City Council is to support Terrific for Two settings within schools, as well as providing support for Out of School Clubs. She has previous experience as a qualified Early Years Teacher for children two and above. Claire has a BA degree in Education Studies and History, and a PGCE specialising in Early Years. 

Rachel Cook has worked as a Quality and Access Officer for Wolverhampton City Council for nearly 7 years. In her current role, Rachel offers advice, support and guidance to day nurseries and playgroups across Wolverhampton. Rachel also implements and delivers professional development training to providers. She has previous experience as a Day Nursery Manager in a variety of provisions across other Local Authorities. Rachel has qualifications in BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies, BA (Hons) degree in Childhood Studies in Humanities, Early Years Professional Status and NVQ Level 3 in Education and Training.

Wendy Round has worked as a Quality and Access Officer for over 14 years, including similar roles within other departments of Wolverhampton City Council. Her role offers support, advice, guidance and challenge to childminders. Her aim is to ensure childminders offer good quality affordable childcare to parents and to improve outcomes for all children in the City in both funded and non-funded childcare provisions. Wendy has qualification in BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies.

Faye Boucher has worked as a Quality and Access Officer for the last 12 months, supporting a variety of childcare providers. Previously, Faye has worked within the Childcare industry for 21 years in a variety of roles, including as a Nursery Practitioner, and a Day Nursery Manager. Faye has qualification in BTEC National Diploma in Childcare and Education, BTEC Advanced Diploma in Childcare, a Foundation degree in Early Years and a NVQ Level 3 in Education and Training.
