Beam is an IAPT service in Wolverhampton. Our aim is to provide children and young people up to the age of 18 (up to the age of 25 for care leavers or anyone with a disability), parents/carers & professionals with advice, signposting and support with any concerns relating to mental and emotional wellbeing.
At our traige drop-in our experienced team of Youth Workers, Therapists and trained Wellbeing Volunteers offer children and young people guidance and support with their mental and emotional health. We provide caring advice and guidance in particular areas including anxiety, anger, mood management and self-esteem. Located in comfortable surroundings, we have a variety of online resources that can be accessed, if young people just want to browse some information.
The IAPT service provide 1:1 therapy sessions which are on an appointment basis. This service supports children and young people with low level mental health problems. This is a brief therapy service where the young person and their therapist will explore the problem they're facing together and work through coping strategies over 4-6 sessions of structured therapy.
The services Beam now offer to CYP include a variety of self-help targeted groups. These groups cover different aspects of low intensity mental health and emotional wellbeing. We also offer Psychoeducation and guided self-help within one to one therapy (IAPT) following a triage assessment which ensures each child and young person is offered the correct level of service for their individual needs.
Access to our service is through referral only. A single point of access (SPA) referral form can be completed by any professional working with the CYP . All referrals made to SPA will be triaged by CAMHS and Beam to dertermine which tier support is required for the young person. Referrals can also be made via Eclipse and our email address.
Once we have recieved a referral we will invite you to our Triage session which will lead to appropriate intervention for each child and young person. At the Triage session we will decide which of the following would be most suitable:
- Self-help targeted workshops
- IAPT assessment
- One off support
- Singposting to other services
