Wolverhampton Wheelchair Service

The Wolverhampton Wheelchair Service provides the assessment for, and provision of a range of non-powered and powered wheelchairs.

The provision can also include special seating, cushioning and other accessories where necessary. In addition to this core service there is also a free of charge delivery, collection and repair service.

A wheelchair voucher scheme enables you to contribute to the cost of your wheelchair so that you can choose from a wider range than normally available, though you can access the scheme for free.

How to access this service
Initial referral into the service is via a GP or hospital doctor. Once registered with the service, clients are free to self refer should they need to do so.

Referral criteria / process
Clients must be registered with a Wolverhampton City PCT GP and have a permanent condition which requires them to have a wheelchair as an aid to mobility.

More specific criteria apply to the different ranges of equipment available (e.g. powered chairs) and form the basis of individual assessments.
