Pay your Council Tax - City of Wolverhampton Council

There are a number of ways to pay your Council Tax and help is available with your bill.

Direct debit

Direct debit is the easiest way to pay your Council Tax. You can set up a direct debit online or by phoning us.

Online

Pay online

Paying online is quick and easy. Payments are protected using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. You will need your 12-digit reference number shown on your bill.

We accept most major credit and debit cards.

By phone

You can make a payment using the council's 24 hour automated payment Freephone line.

We accept any of the cards listed above and you will need your 12-digit reference number shown on your bill.

Telephone banking

Alternatively, you can ring your own bank and ask them to make the payment to the following council bank account:

  • sort code: 56-00-69
  • account number: 44470339

By post

You can send a cheque/postal order made payable to City of Wolverhampton Council by post:

In person

You can pay in person by using the Express Payment Point in the Civic Centre during opening hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8.30am to 5pm
  • Friday: 8.30am to 4.30pm

Customer payment card

You can pay free of charge at any PayPoint or Post Office, providing you have a customer payment card which contains your unique Council Tax account number. Simply hand your payment card and payment to the cashier and they will process the payment.
