Striving for Independence (SFI)

Offers a supported therapeutic environment in which to learn preferred new skills acquired whilst working through cooking, gardening and domestic activities, so the clients/trainees can be given the opportunities to become employable.

Our organisation works within a group setting which is based on sensitivity, social interaction and a gentle behavioural approach. However, SFI has a dual purpose to provide and develop working skills and an empathic social independence, whilst, delivering meals and domestic gardening chores to the elderly in their local communities free of charge. This niche concept brings experience and companionship alike, whilst developing a seed to table concept grown in the very gardens of the senior citizens we help to provide food to.

We believe in supporting and educating families about disabilities, whilst changing patterns of behaviour that may restrict client progression and emotional wellbeing. We try to establish clear and consistent boundaries whilst exploring the functions for strengths and weaknesses of behaviour. And, consider environmental modifications to assist families and clients to achieve targets through our 3 way tool box program.

SFI can provide transport within the local area; clients will be picked up between 9.00 am and 10.00 am mornings and returned at 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm afternoons.
