Breast Screening

Around 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with Breast Cancer during their lifetime, in the UK. Chances of recovery are much better if it is detected in it’s early stages. Which is why routine breast screening is so important.

Breast screening is done with an X-ray test called a Mammogram, which is able to spot cancers when they are too small to see or feel.

The risk of developing Breast Cancer increases with age, therefore, all women aged between 50-70 and registered with a GP will automatically be invited for Breast Cancer screening every three years.

However, there are some risks with Breast screening, you can find out more about these risks by visiting  NHS breast screening information.

Here you will find out more about Breast Cancer in women.

If you are worried about Breast Cancer symptoms, such as a lump or an area of thickened tissue in their breast, then you should visit your GP, rather than waiting for your next screening invitation.

Here you will find more information on Screening & Immunisations.
