To develop a joined up Early Help Youth Offer in conjunction with partners ( Local Authority, The Way, Headstart, Voluntary & Community Sector, Private providers) to pilot support pathways via Early Help Surgeries. Extended Surgeries will be the forum for Schools & Partners to attend and discuss children and young people they feel are vulnerable to poor outcomes – i.e. poor behaviour in Schools, subject to poor peer influences, Anti Social Behaviour, or Year 6 pupils who it is suspected will make a poor transition to Secondary School etc.
The extended Locality Surgery will then work with Partners to offer these children diversionary activities in the community or mentoring. For those localities where there is not many community / youth activities already taking place activities will be commissioned. The Surgery will be led by a Delivery Manger and the Early Help Police Officer based within Strengthening Families Hubs.
The target group are children who sit below the Early Help multi agency threshold who have been identified as being at risk. Interventions will largely be based around engagement in positive activities to encourage and equip children to make right choices for themselves. This is pre-exploitation, pre- targeted intervention and largely diversionary support.
How to Refer:
Any partner agency working with a child, although we predict this would predominately be Primary Schools. Bookings are made through the Eventbrite website where you will be expected to add the Eclipse reference number of the family you would like to discuss.
Prior to meeting:
Checks to be undertaken regarding children by the referring agency and if the child is already engaged with a statutory service, then the concerns will be shared with them via existing communication routes and the child/young person will not be discussed in the meeting. (i.e. YOT / Children Social Care)
Consent to be gained from Parent’s / carers for child to be discussed and for a support plan to be identified.
