A Care Home is home which is staffed 24 hours a day and provides all meals.

Types of Care Home

There are two main types of Care Home:

  • Those that offer accommodation and help with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing and going to the toilet (they used to be called Residential Homes)
  • Those which offer these services and also offer nursing care (they used to be called Nursing Homes)

Moving to a Care Home can be a very big step and whilst it can offer opportunities to meet new people and receive care and support in comfortable surroundings it can also have implications for your financial situation.
