Old Tree Nature Centre (formerly Old Tree Nursery) is a land based learning centre specialising in animal care, the centre is home to a wide range of rescue animals. The site provides day activity services for students and service users to gain hands on experiences including day to day care of the animals needs gaining valuable therapeutic experiences in a multitude of ways.
Aspects of the great outdoors utilisiting the space of our classrooms specialised breakout areas; outdoor education areas and specialised staff who all have experience and knowledge of SEN. Partnered with all local police and fire services for PTSD and Trauma Therapies.
The Primary Purpose
The Nature Centre supports adults living with complex learning needs by offering them a place of safety, mindfulness and a place where they can learn skills for life, hobbies and interests, meet friends so they have a place of belonging and community that they want to feel a part of.
We encourage our team members to have an emersive involvement in the day to day tasks required around the site whilst also aiming to tailor their experience to the UK national cariculum.
The Communities we Serve
OTN works closely with our local schools, colleges and universities offering volunteer placements to enable career development. We support school trips to our nursery for students of all ages to observe nature and rare breads of creatures we have living here in their natural habitats, ponds and woodlands presenting a real life natural history lesson.
