Wolverhampton Information Network

Independent Age

We provide information and a national advice service for older people, their families and carers.

We support people who are over the state retirement age. Anyone can call our advice line (charged at a local call rate), download our information guides, order a copy of our Wise Guides or search our information and advice online. All our services are free.

We have over 1,500 volunteers and a small number of paid staff offering a range of services across the UK and Ireland. Our three main areas of work are:

  • social care, including care at home, in hospital and residential care
  • welfare benefits and entitlements
  • befriending services and other social support

Our advice and information service offers expert personalised support by phone and email to almost 4,000 older people and their families each year. Our advice on social care provision includes care options and assessments, finding and paying for care, funding concerns and making a complaint.

We offer a range of free services to reduce isolation among older people. You can join a free TalkTime phone club or have a Volunteer Visitor to visit you. All activities are provided by our network of trained volunteers and are available across the UK.
