OCD Action

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is a clinically recognised disorder which affects around 1-2% of the population. It is debilitating and paralysing. People with OCD experience intensely negative, repetitive and intrusive thoughts, combined with a chronic feeling of doubt or danger (obsessions). In order to quell the thought or quieten the anxiety, they will often repeat an action, again and again (compulsions).

OCD Action is a national (UK) charity providing support and information to people affected by the debilitating mental health condition OCD and related related disorders including Body Dismorphic Disorder (BDD), Skin Picking (CSP), Trichotillomania (TTM) – compulsive hair pulling etc.

We know how isolating OCD can be, it can make you feel trapped and cut off from the rest of the world. Our website can help you can find out about the support that is available to anyone affected by OCD. Finding the right support and building up a support network can make a massive difference; it can give you the tools and the strength to fight back and make you feel that you are not facing OCD on your own.

We have the volunteers, trustees and staff to turn our vision into reality and make a real and lasting difference to anyone affected by OCD.

The OCD Action Helpline and Email Service is a confidential and unbiased service offering help, information and support for people with OCD, carers and anyone who is concerned that they, or their friends or relatives, may have OCD or a related disorder.

Additional help and support can be found on our website.
