Mei Jyu Kan Aikido Club is a non-profit aikido club based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, that specialises in teaching aikido as a means of self-defence for men, women and children of all ages.
The club was founded in 1997 by Ian Grubb Sensei. Our club has a direct link with the Aikikai Head Quarters in Japan through its membership of British Birankai and the Joint Aikikai Council.
Mei Jyu Kan prides itself on its success over the years with students having achieved black belt and going on to become teachers in the club. It is the friendly atmosphere meaning that high-grade students tend to stay.
The Aikido Club is run for the benefit of all its members. No official or instructor is paid, thereby keeping weekly fees to a minimum.
The friendly atmosphere is such that all higher grades, not just instructors, happily give their time to help and encourage beginners and improvers. Why not give it a try!
Please feel free to browse our website and discover more about us.
Aikido is based on circular and direct movements so that maximum effect is achieved by minimal effort. This means that anyone can practise – old/young, men/women, fit/unfit. We have Adult, Family and Children's classes. Beginners are welcome.
Training times take place across the city at three locations; please visit our website for details.
