White Ribbon Association

We are an educational charity that raises awareness into the harmful effects of drugs, tobacco, alcohol and gambling.

We produce a wide range of informative literature including leaflets, worksheets and booklets that are age appropraite for all Key Stages that are suitable for use in schools, colleges and work projects.

There are a number of service provision we can provide including:-

Community Health information displays: This scheme aims to empower people with the knowledge to make informed decisions about thier welbeing and lifestyle.  It loans informative display boards and leaflets to various establishments free of charge, who wish to raise awareness of national and international awareness events including Dry January, No Smoking Day, Alcohol Awareness Week, Road Safety week and Stoptober.  Each month the scheme focuses on a different event. These boards will be delivered and collected by a member of the White Ribbon team.

Some of the setting where our display board have been used include primary schools, secondary schools, sixth form hubs, libraries, GP surgeries, Pharmacies, colleges and employability services.  Our boards for Children use cartoon characters to share the health information regarding varoius topics throughout the year.

Health Event Stands:- For a nominal charge we can come into your school, college, or organisation and deliver a health event stand.  This involves focussing on one of the topics, displaying information boards and undertaking activities with people who visit the stand and want information. The stand is visually appealing with lots of visual displays to view. Members of our team are at the stand to guide visitors through the information, activities and answer any questions. This is an informal approach for health promotion messages to be shared to a larger audience on a drop in basis. Popular bookings have been for college freshers and health fairs, in Pharmacies or as a citizenship curriculum module.

Awareness Sessions: For a nominal charge our Development Officers can offer tailor made sessions on the the topics of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and gambling.  The sessions are available to all Key Stages and delivery of the information is done in a fun, exciting and interactive way using a variety of visual aids, including DVD and activities.

Leaflets:- There are a number of informative leaflets surrounding our four topics that are available to download from our web-site.

Archives:- For people interested in history we have a selection of historic items including diaries, annual reports, banners and photos in our our site archive.  If people are looking for early 1900's information and interest in social welfare, social justice, temperance and health and welbeing we may have something that can help your research contact Archives@white-ribbon.org.uk to discuss further
