Safe Place schemes have been designed to help people with learning disabilities to know what to do if they become a victim of hate crime, bullying or harassment.
As a person with a learning disability you have the right to stay safe in Wolverhampton, so the People’s Parliament have developed a safe places scheme in partnership with the police and local services and shops in the community.
A Safe Place is somewhere you can go if you have a learning disability and you get into trouble in the community. You might be picked on or treated badly because of your disability or you might have got lost or been a victim of hate crime. If this happens you can go to a place which has this sticker in the window. The person in the building will help you make a phone call and get help.
Changing Our Lives is a rights based organization that works in co-production with people with disabilities of all ages to achieve equality, good health and social inclusion. They have co-ordinated the Safe Place List for the City.
