Dementia Action Alliance

There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. It costs the UK economy £26.3 billion a year and can ruin the lives of people living with it and those that care for them.

The Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) brings together organisations across England committed to transforming the lives of people with dementia and their carers.

The DDA movement has one simple aim: to bring about a society-wide response to dementia. It encourages and supports communities and organisations across England to take practical actions to enable people to live well with dementia and reduce the risk of costly crisis intervention.

The DAA is working towards bringing about a society-wide response to dementia. At a national level the DAA has begun to shape policy and attitudes. Locally we galvanise action by coordinating and supporting Local Dementia Action Alliances.

A Local Dementia Action Alliance brings together regional and local members to improve the lives of people with dementia in their area. They are seen as the local vehicle to develop dementia friendly communities.

A Local Alliance can be established at any level, be it a village, city, county or even a region. They can overlap geographically and member organisations are encouraged to participate in more than one.

The Wolverhampton Dementia Action Alliance is made up of organisations that operate across the city of Wolverhampton and are working towards creating dementia friendly communities to improve the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.
