Occupational Therapy Team - City of Wolverhampton Council

Our Occupational Therapy team is available to assess the needs of people living in Wolverhampton. An assessment can be completed at our clinic based at the Neville Garratt Centre for Independent Living or, if a person is unable to travel to access the service, a member of the team can visit at home. Where possible, the team can provide aids to assist around the home or arrange for work to adapt your property.

Please note, assessment may not happen immediately due to the demands of the service. Assessment may be in our clinic at the Neville Garratt Centre for Independent Living, or if a person is unable to attend due to mobility difficulties, at their own property.

The team will assess the following areas during the assessment process:

  • Access to the property (including front and back doors and any steps)
  • General mobility
  • Stairs use
  • Transfers – Safe chair use; Safe use of toilets; Safe access into and out of a bath; Safe access into and out of a bed

Further assistance can be considered, depending on the situation identified. This may involve referral on to other services. Various aids and adaptations can be provided based on the outcome of an assessment. These can include but are not limited to; grab rails, walking aids, toilet frames and stair rails.

For more information about any aspect of our service please contact us directly.
