Switch Midlands

Switch Midlands #poweringpotential

We provide early intervention outreach support into Wolverhampton schools for children and young people whose social and emotional needs are causing concern and preventing them from achieving their full potential.

At it’s heart, our service works towards preventing the need for schools to exclude pupils. We achieve this by offering support as outreach through our Switch Coaches Programme into both primary and secondary settings.

Our programmes help young people understand how situations and issues arise and then develop the skills to approach concerns in a more reflective way, allowing them to be more effective in solving their own problems and feel more in control. We provide pupils with opportunities to enjoy learning about and making informed decisions around their own personal development, behaviour, welfare and mental health. The essential components of our programmes target personal traits, motivation and guides conduct so that pupils reflect wisely, behave with integrity and cooperate consistently well with others.

Our emphasis is placed on supporting young people to make good choices in both their educational and personal lives, giving them the ability to recognise and respond to their own emotions, form effective peer and adult relationships and to persevere through difficulties.

Our programmes aim to positively impact on 6 key development areas:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-management
  • Social responsibility
  • Decision making
  • Relationship skills
  • Positive communication

We are able to support pupils using our own evidence-based learning programmes, designed and delivered by our experienced and trained staff, all of which hold enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding qualifications, plus a range of therapeutic intervention specialisms.
