The Ophthalmology Services provided by Wolverhampton & Midland Counties Eye Infirmary (WEI) provides an ophthalmic service to residents of Wolverhampton, Walsall and South Staffordshire as well as the adjacent counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.
The team of consultants specialises the following wide range of conditions and is supported by other Ophthalmologists.

The service is supported by a team of Optometrists and Orthoptists and also has an excellent imaging department offering a wide range of services with state of the art equipment.
Specialist Nurses run an Ophthalmic emergency service within the Emergency Department of the Trust with the facility to refer directly into the Eye Referral Unit which also takes urgent referrals from GP’s and Local Opticians participating in the MECS scheme.
An outpatient service is available at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, Cannock Chase Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford with Day Case surgery facilities available at New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital.
