Community Paediatrics

Community paediatrics is a specialist consultant led service for children and young people in Wolverhampton who are vulnerable due to disease, disability and/or disadvantage.

The key purpose of our service is:

  • to work together with all other children's services, in health and other agencies, to provide high quality specialist child centred care
  • to improve equity and accessibility of service to the most vulnerable and hard to reach children
  • to provide appropriate support and advice to increase the knowledge and skills of staff in other services who are responsible for providing health, social care and education to vulnerable children
  • to work with parents and carers as partners with professionals in providing child-centred care and treatment.

Two of the main outcomes for families who use our services are, firstly, to keep the children of Wolverhampton healthy by providing a general paediatric and child health service in the community. Secondly, to ensure the children of Wolverhampton reach their potential by providing specialist developmental paediatrics, neurodisability and paediatric audiology (hearing) services.
