We have a face-to-face Dementia 'cafe' that meets once a month, on a Thursday afternoon, at Bantock House Museum.
A Dementia Cafe is a warm and friendly environment, offering support and connection for people living at home with dementia and anyone who lives with them or helps to care for them. We have visits from relevant services, some activities, and a Dementia Adviser on hand if you need any support. Our wonderful volunteers will serve you refreshements and you will have time to chat to others in a similar situtaion.
We hold a weekly 'virtual' Dementia Cafes via Zoom, this are helpful if you find it difficult to attend the face-to-face group for any reason (though some people attend both as they get different things from each one). We meet on a Monday afternoon for a supportive and friendly chat. Once you have zoom downloaded onto your device, you simple click the link in the weekly email we send and you are taken straight to the group. We meet on a Thursday from 3pm-4pm. (We can help you get started on zoom).
You can access these online groups if you are already registered with us, if not then please call our support line: Dementia Connect 0333 150 3456 and ask to be referred to an online dementia cafe in your area; you can also be signed up for Dementia Support calls if you feel you need extra help.
You can then have a chat with the organiser beforehand if you wish. We also have Singing for the Brain sessions available.
If you are interested in joining us or have any questions about dementia, then please call our Dementia Connect line on 0333 150 3456, where a trained adviser will discuss your needs, answer any questions and forward you to local services that might be of help.
Alternatively you can email us at blackcountrydementiasupport@alzheimers.org.uk.
Everything is free to access.
