In what circumstances would this equipment be provided?
Upon assessment of child/young person's clinical need. This may be because your child is struggling with their oral secretions (saliva) and following an assessment either by your Speech and Language practitioner, physiotherapist or Consultant, then it may be deemed appropriate to have a suction machine that can be used by the parent/carer to keep your childs airway clear of their secretions.

What happens when the equipment is no longer suitable or required?
It gets returned to MPCE if the item is deemed unrepariable. If it is not required, it can go back in to the main CCNS Stock and be used for other patients.
